At the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) meeting on February 15, 2005, the formal agenda proposed two principal business items: a discussion by Dean William C. Kirby of his Annual Letter to the faculty; and a discussion by Kirby and Benedict H. Gross, dean of Harvard College, about the status of, and schedule for, further work on the undergraduate curriculum review. As the meeting progressed, neither of those items was reached, because of faculty members' comments during the Question Period, which followed introductory statements by Kirby and President Lawrence H. Summers.
