It's not too early to advertise. Help an undergraduate explore his or her career interests by offering an externship, internship, or job opportunity.
The Radcliffe Externships allow undergraduate women to "shadow," i.e. live and work with, an alumna during spring break (March 27 to April 4). To participate, contact Sharon Crandall at (617) 496-6941, e-mail "email@example.com", or go to the Internet site at "http://www.radcliffe.edu/undergrad/externs". The deadline for posting an externship is in early February. The Harvard Career Internship Program also matches sponsors and students for a one-week unpaid internship during spring recess. "Student demand for internships consistently exceeds the number of available sponsors," says program coordinator Nancy Saunders, assistant director in the Office of Career Services. All alumni interested in receiving a sponsor registration form, or more information, should contact Saunders by e-mailing "firstname.lastname@example.org" or calling the OCS at (617) 495-2595. The OCS posts all internships on an on-line service available to students.
The Student Employment Office is equipped to take information about paid and unpaid summer internships through its website, "http://byerly.fas.harvard.edu/seo". Alumni can also contact the office by mail at Byerly Hall, 8 Garden Street, Cambridge 02138, or by telephone at (617) 495-2585. Be sure to identify yourself as an alumnus or alumna. All jobs listed on the Internet are also posted on the SEO's bulletin board.
